About the series

The Nike Air Force 1 was launched in late October 1982. It was designed by Bruce Kilgore, who was then Nike's Director of Research and Development. The design was inspired by a Nike hiking boot. The line debuted in a high-top version, and the original shoes featured a hook-and-loop strap around the ankle for a secure fit. The outsole utilized concentric circles in key areas to facilitate pivoting. The low-top Air Force 1 Low followed in 1983.

How to choose

When choosing the height, keep in mind that the Air Force 1 High has a taller collar than the Mid version. If you are choosing based on material, the reviewed Nike Air Force 1 ’07 model features an all-textured leather upper.
